For more than 30 years, the In Situ workshop has been designing and implementing a wide variety of projects, on all territory scales, and numerous spaces and public landscapes, in France and in Europe. The agency was founded in Lyon by Emmanuel Jalbert and Annie Tardivon, both graduates of the ENSP in Versailles. The path of the two partners separated in 2011. Today the workshop gathers about twenty collaborators, landscape and town planners around Emmanuel Jalbert and his two associates, Anna Thomé and Julien Baby. In Situ has made itself known through a wide variety of contextual projects, and several riverbank developments that most often integrate a strong public dimension.

The team is developing project management missions, but also urban studies on eco-neighbourhood projects and sustainable urban renewal operations. The studio was also involved in various participatory approaches, integrating active consultation with users, residents and managers. The agency has acquired a savoir-faire in creating shared gardens, in urban agriculture and alternative stormwater management. We strive to integrate from the design stage, upkeep and maintenance of landscaped areas. In Situ regularly collaborates with numerous partners with complementary skills, within the framework of innovative urban projects, voluntarily very diverse and open.

All these landscapes of uses are comprehended as fertile and evolving environments, places of life that strongly associate space, time, life… and people. The route of the works shows a long-term commitment to create spaces open to all, landscapes designed to be practised and invested by a large number of users. Through each project, the public space is considered as a common good to be shared, a territory of conviviality, contiguity and citizenship.
