Historic Ramparts Höxter

Designed by Franz Reschke Landschaftsarchitektur

Location: Germany — Type: Parks, Playgrounds — Built: 2023 Show on Google Maps

Franz Reschke Landschaftsarchitektur: As part of the Höxter 2023 Garden Show, the open spaces of the historic ramparts around Höxter’s old town were further developed from the existing structure. The exposed green center connects generously along the ramparts and opens up an impressive interplay between the city wall and the main path in the characteristic avenue. An attractive planting of perennials accompanies the historic city wall, which is made of red sandstone, over a length of approx. 900m. This will be illuminated in the evening. New play and recreational facilities in combination with the open park meadows make the ramparts a high-quality inner-city open space for the city’s population. The paths and squares in the ramparts were designed calmly and uniformly in sandstone typical of the region.
