Dikes

Dikes are infrastructures of containment, historically built to hold back water and secure land for settlement and agriculture. They embody the negotiation between human engineering and natural force, staging a balance of protection and vulnerability. In the era of sea-level rise, dikes have become symbols of both resilience and futility. As sites, they are thresholds where politics, ecology, and engineering converge.
