Healing landscapes

Healing landscapes foreground the therapeutic potential of designed environments to foster physical, psychological, and social well-being. Rooted in traditions of restorative gardens and medical landscapes, the notion extends into contemporary healthcare design, trauma recovery, and mental health. Yet healing is never neutral: landscapes may reproduce cultural norms about health, accessibility, and the body. Healing landscapes therefore oscillate between clinical function and symbolic promise. They remind us that landscape always mediates between environment, affect, and corporeality.
