Objectification

Objectification in design is the process of treating concepts, spaces, or materials as discrete objects for analysis, manipulation, and evaluation. It enables clarity and technical control, yet also risks reducing relational and lived qualities. Within the design process, objectification can be productive if balanced by methods that reintroduce context, experience, and agency. It is a necessary but partial lens, transforming phenomena into workable form.
