The Enervie Headquarters: A Model of Sustainable and Future-Oriented Architecture

presented by TTC Timmler Technology

The Enervie headquarters in Hagen-Haßley stands as an exemplary showcase of sustainable management and forward-thinking design. As the central energy and water supply facility for South Westphalia, it consolidates all company divisions into one location, significantly reducing travel times, as well as rental and operational costs. This new facility replaces the previous scattered administration and workshop sites across the city, creating a centralized and efficient hub.

Designed by the architectural firm JSWD, the building features a striking modern design characterized by varying structural heights. A unified façade of vertical metal slats ties the building’s different volumes together, creating a cohesive visual identity. The tallest cube marks the main entrance and houses a four-story office building, while the rear accommodates workshops and a testing station for meters and switchgear, all connected through a spacious open area.

Sustainability at Its Core

The Enervie headquarters places a strong emphasis on sustainability and resource conservation. Integrated photovoltaic systems, solar thermal energy, and small wind turbines are designed to enable the facility to achieve energy autonomy in the future. These features not only make the building environmentally friendly but also contribute to reducing operational costs, reinforcing the company’s commitment to sustainability.

A Welcoming Inner Courtyard

One of the standout features is the thoughtfully designed inner courtyard, which fosters an inviting and relaxing environment for employees. The courtyard is distinguished by two differently coloured floor coverings with curved lines that define various zones. Small seating cubes, trees, and bamboo-filled planters create spaces for rest and interaction, adding to the courtyard’s charm.

Adding to its appeal is a sophisticated lighting concept implemented with a 120-meter-long LED Lightline from ADO Lights. This lighting solution not only provides atmospheric illumination but also acts as a guiding feature, ensuring safety and aesthetic appeal. The robust LED technology is designed to withstand heavy foot traffic while elegantly highlighting the contrasting flooring colours in the dark.

Energy-Efficient Lighting

The lighting concept, controlled via a DMX system, aligns perfectly with the client’s emphasis on resource conservation without compromising design aesthetics. The LED Lightline integrates seamlessly into existing systems, demonstrating how sustainable design and innovative technology can coexist in a modern working environment.

Pioneering Tomorrow’s Architecture

The Enervie headquarters seamlessly blends functionality, sustainability, and innovative design, offering a pioneering vision of architecture for the future. From its energy-efficient systems to its inviting courtyard and advanced lighting solutions, this facility exemplifies how thoughtful design can contribute to environmental responsibility and modern workplace efficiency.
